DownloadELISERT® is a press-in expansion insert designed for use in molded thermoplastics. These inserts are characteristically easy to install, and their particular, knurled design ensures levels of tensile strength and pull-out resistance normally found in inserts installed by heat staking.
PRESS-IN installation
STANDARD MATERIAL
Brass (B) – Other materials available upon request.
Molded holes are recommended whenever possible. The conical shape of a molded hole should not exceed 1°, and the recommended hole diameter is as measured at the level of the hole reached by the end of the insert. Drilled holes may be used, but performance may be slightly lower that with a molded hole. The upper part of the hole must not be rounded or chamfered, and be careful to avoid flaring. Hole diameter tolerance: -0.00 + 0.10 mm.
The screw must always be inserted from the knurled end of the insert in order for the insert to expand in the manner it needs to for full efficacy of the fastener.
We recommend designing the joint in a manner that keeps any possibility of slippage to a minimum. For questions, contact PSM Celada Fasteners.
It is important that the screw pass all the way through the insert in order to fully expand it. Be sure that the length of the screw is sufficient to ensure full expansion before fully tightening the screw.
In the table, we provide a general guide for determining minimum wall thickness, which can vary based on the type of plastic used. It is possible to use thinner walls if necessary, but we highly recommend contacting PSM CELADA Fasteners for preliminary tests.
