STANDARD MATERIAL
Brass (B) – Other materials available upon request.

BENEFITS

  • Designed for use in an 6° tapered hole.
  • High pull-out resistance.
  • High torque-out resistance.
  • Optimal centering in the hole.
  • Prevents outflow of the plastic when welding.
  • May be installed by ultrasonic welding or heat staking.

DESIGN GUIDE

PREPARING THE HOLE

The hole needs to have an 6° taper. For blind holes, hole depth needs to be at least 10% greater than the length of the insert.

INSTALLATION

These inserts may be installed by heat staking or ultrasonic welding. When heat staking, the staking temperature must be equal to the temperature used to inject the plastic into the mold. The plastic needs to soften, not melt. This prevents the plastic from escaping between the hole wall and the insert.

WALL THICKNESS

Wall thicknesses are specified in the table based on the size of the insert. Other thicknesses are possible based on the type of plastic. Verify these thicknesses by way of test assemblies.
