DESIGN GUIDE

PREPARING THE HOLE

We recommend punched holes, although drilled holes may also be used. In either case, holes must be free of burrs.

HOLE TOLERANCE

Hole size has a tolerance of -0.00/+0.13 mm.

ASSEMBLY

Always install with a squeeze press so as to control the install depth by way of the notches in the install tool.
HPFH studs are not designed for flush installations.

SHEET METAL THICKNESS

For thicknesses in the ranges indicated, a chamfered anvil is necessary:
M4 0.80 – 1.19
M5 0.90 – 1.29 10 unified .036 – .049
M6 1.00 – 1.49 1/4 unified .040 – .059
M8 1.50 – 1.99 5/16 unified .060 – .074
Performance will lessen when using thinner sheet metal.

SHEET METAL HARDNESS

Must be less than 150 HV (80 RB).

STANDARD MATERIAL

Hardened steel.

STANDARD FINISH

Clear zinc plating and passivation.
