DESIGN GUIDE
MOLD-FORM inserts may be molded in all types of plastic. In thermosets in particular, they achieve superior levels of performance in both torque-out and pull-out resistance than inserts installed after molding. MOLD-FORM inserts may be placed in the mold manually or by automated Cartesian or anthropomorphic positioning systems.
The large splines on MOLD-FORM inserts eliminate the risk of metal shavings that can be found in the smaller knurl patterns of turned inserts. MOLD-FORM inserts have no sharp corners that can generate radial forces on the plastic, as can happen with hex inserts, which could crack the plastic.
