SELF-CLINCHING STUD

Our PFH SELF-CLINCHING STUD is a threaded fastener with knurling under the head. When embedded in the sheet metal, it displaces material into the clinch ring, thereby securing the fastener.

DESIGN GUIDE

Press with only enough pressure to embed the head of the stud flush with the surface of the sheet metal.
Avoid excessive pressure. Install forces vary based on the material of the panel and size of the stud’s head.

SHEET METAL HARDNESS

Must be less than 80 RB (150 HV) for steel fasteners and less than 70 RB (128 HV) for stainless steel.

PREPARING THE HOLE

Holes may be punched or drilled, so long as they remain within a tolerance range of -0.00/+0.08 mm.

STANDARD MATERIAL

Hardened steel. Austenitic stainless steel 18/8.

STANDARD FINISHES

Steel studs – Clear zinc plating and passivation. Stainless steel studs – natural. Other finishes available upon request. 400 series stainless steel needed for AISI 304 sheet metal.
For certain combinations of thread and sheet metal thickness, it may be necessary to chamfer the underside of the anvil.
