TMA PLUS represents the new era of self-forming screws for light alloy materials with a wide range of surface coatings.
Flank angle of 33°
Compatible with metric fasteners
Circular thread cross-section
Non-circular thread forming zone

Compared to metric screws, self-forming screws can achieve up to 40% cost savings. In fact, they offer the advantageous option of direct assembly into cast part holes, eliminating pre-drilling, thread tapping and subsequent metal chip cleanup – operations otherwise required to prepare holes for metric screws. TMA PLUS completes all these steps in a single pass, providing benefits not only in costs but also in time.
The geometric configuration of TMA PLUS threading allows for a larger cutting area, ensuring better performance during extraction and disassembly procedures.
TMA PLUS features a smaller flank angle of 33°, forming a more resistant internal thread in the mating material compared to screws with a 60° flank angle. The larger contact area with the nut thread makes the joint stronger, while the optimized thread profile enhances material displacement during thread formation, ensuring maximum grip. The smaller flank profile provides greater strength, a critical factor for high-load joints.
The tapered self-tapping introduction with sharp crest threads minimizes chip generation and reduces insertion torque.
TMA PLUS is designed as an alternative to metric screws and is fully interchangeable with them. Consequently, TMA PLUS can be used in equivalent-sized tapped threads for metric screws. If needed, a metric screw can also be used in the thread created by TMA PLUS to avoid any field service issues.
