Valle Cà Pisani is a fishing valley located below sea level, near the Po Delta; more specifically, in Porto Viro, and it spans approximately 280 hectares. To maintain the correct biological balance, it requires continuous fresh water exchanges with sea water, a process carried out using channels and movable sluices.
By controlling these flows, Valle Cà Pisani can maximize CO2 capture from the algal substrate: capture primarily occurs during the summer seasons, while in winter, the algae are transported to the seabed, where they settle and permanently store the captured CO2. This process repeats every year, allowing for the generation of carbon credits, based on the amounts of CO2 fixed by the algae and trapped in the seabed.
