P-NUT

PS FOR THERMOPLASTICS AND THERMOSETS

P-NUT is an insert recommended for applications involving structural parts and on-board equipment, particularly in the automotive industry. It is made of steel and features a class 8.8 internal thread. This press-in insert has a rounded flange with two opposing flats, which provides a solid fit in thin plastic sections. It is available in standard assembly thread diameters, and the exterior dimension are based on customer design to meet the needs of the project at hand. The most common thread types are M5-M6-M8-M10.

PREPARING THE HOLE

The cylindrical hole may have a maximum taper of 1°.

INSTALLATION

P-NUT is installed by pressure using a manual punch or mechanical press.

WALL THICKNESS

The external diameter of the plastic boss must be at least equal to the external diameter of the fastener’s flange.
